SNOW! SNOW! SNOW!

The weather today was perfect for our snow story and for discussing snowflakes.  Be sure to ask your child what he/she learned from the story we read....how snow is helpful to animals hibernating; how snow is helpful to plants in the ground; how snow is helpful to us!!  We learned that snowflakes always have 6 sides,  but each looks different.  Finally, we made our own snowflakes out of white coffee filters.

"THREE LITTLE KITTENS"

Today we introduced another nursery rhyme, "Three Little Kittens".  Using props, we had some classmates act out the nursery rhyme.  These props will be placed in our classroom library for children to practice reciting and acting out this nursery rhyme during Free Choice time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHAIA!

We enjoyed celebrating Shaia's birthday today!  Her dad read to us the story, Firefly Night (the author of this book lives in Shaia's neighborhood) and we then enjoyed eating Timbits for snack.  Happy Birthday, Shaia!

FREE CHOICE FUN!

New Free Choice activities include...

...drawing a winter scene on a large, white paper circle and then...
painting it with glitter gel to make it look like a snow globe.

...dumping it into the hole in the bowl.
...using a box and materials from the Art Center to design/create a house for the Gingerbread Man (this activity was child-created)!

ZERO THE HERO DAY!

Today we celebrated our 80th day of school!  Thank you to Elsa and her parents for helping us celebrate!  We made tambourines and used jungle (in honor of "J" week) stickers to decorate them.
Elsa pointed out the 2 "zeros" that you could see in the paper plates.  Thanks for the great activity!

STAR OF THE WEEK--ELLA!

Today we learned more about our friend, Ella!  Her favorite color is pink and she likes to eat watermelon!  Ella shared some great photos, including some of her at the beach--her favorite place to visit!  Thank you for sharing, Ella!

GINGERGREAD MAN

Yesterday, we read the story, The Gingerbread Boy since we are studying the /J/ sound this week.
At the end of the story, there was a note from the Gingerbread Boy.  The note said to come find the Gingerbread Boy in the place at school where we like to check out books....the library!!

When we got to the library, Ms. Oeth had found another note left by the Gingerbread Boy!  It told us to find him in the place at school where we like to sing.....the music room!
 Where is that Gingerbread Boy?!
When we got to the Music Room, we found another note!  This time the note said to look for the Gingerbread Boy in the room where we like to eat (snack).  Back to the Pre-K room!!

Another clue on our classroom door!  It says that we found him!  It also says to grab a seat and there waiting at the table will be a delicious treat!........

We found the Gingerbread Boy!  HOORAY!
