Today we did a group activity to review the five letter sounds we have studied. First, a child would choose a card from inside a bag.
Following our group sound review activity, Mrs. "B" showed us an activity we can do during Free Choice time to review our knowledge of the letter sounds.
In the photo below are "sound drawers". Each drawer has a different letter on the front and contains various objects beginning with that letter sound.
To do this activity, a child chooses two different drawers and takes out a work mat.
Next, the child puts a picture of the letter character on each side of the work mat.
The child dumps the objects out of the drawers and mixes them.
Finally, the child determines which sound he/she hears at the beginning of the name of the object and places it under the corresponding letter.
