For the past 3 weeks, we have implemented a new "dimension" to our Free Choice time. "Station Rotations" is a way to encourage children to try new activities and interact with new classmates during Free Choice time. Children have been divided into 5 different groups (4 children per group). There are 5 Free Choice areas/activities displayed at the beginning of each week. (See photo below of pocket chart.) At the start of Free Choice time, children find out which area they go to for the first 15 minutes of Free Choice time. A timer is set and children must stay in their assigned area for 15 minutes. At the end of the 15 minutes, children have the choice of continuing in the area where there are working/playing or choosing a different activity/area for the remaining 30 minutes of Free Choice time. By the end of the week, children will have rotated to all 5 different areas and we start over the next week. So far, this new system is working out very well!

COLOR BOOKS
This week at the writing center, children are working on color books. First, children choose which color of book they would like. Then, they create pictures in the book by either drawing them or finding and cutting out pictures from magazines and gluing them into their books. Once their pictures are completed, children sit down with a teacher to label their pictures. Look for your child's color book to come home in his/her folder some time soon!
FREE CHOICE FUN!
Children can be letter "Detectives". Using a special "eye" and a letter chart, children try to find each letter of the alphabet somewhere in the classroom and then color it in on a chart.

COLOR DAY!
Today we read the story, Mary Wore Her Red Dress, which is a book with a repetitive text. As a follow-up activity, we will make our own class book following the same format as the story. In order to this, we are asking the children to wear at least one article of clothing this
FRIDAY DECEMBER 3RD, which will be our "Pre-K Color Day". For example, your child could wear a solid color shirt with jeans, or a pair of sweat pants and a shirt that are a solid color, etc.
DRESS CODE DOES NOT NEED TO BE FOLLOWED ON THIS DAY!

SPELLING GAME AND SOUND REVIEW GAME
In the photos below, we did a spelling game. Using the middle and ending letters/sounds "en", each child was given a word and needed to determine which letter/sound needed to be placed at the beginning of "en".
Our "sound review" game today involved choosing a picture card from a "mystery bag"; identifying the beginning letter sound; and placing the picture card on the correct letter sound.

THANKSGIVING STORY BRACELET
Last week, we read stories about the first Thanksgiving. Today and tomorrow the children are making a "story bracelet" with beads. Each different color bead represents a part of the first Thanksgiving. We sent home a "key" in your child's folder which will help you assist your child in retelling the Thanksgiving story using his/her bracelet.
Happy Thanksgiving!
ZERO THE HERO DAY!
Today we celebrated our 60th day of school! Tommy's mom and Evan's dad helped us celebrate by bringing in Thanksgiving wreaths for us to make. We are thankful for the wonderful activity you provided for us! Happy Zero the Hero Day, Pre-K!

PRE-K MUSIC PROGRAM
Your children have been working hard rehearsing for tomorrow's Music Program. Children should wear school dress code and should arrive at school at the regular time--no later than 8:05. The program begins at 8:30 in the theater. Pre-K families are invited to sit in the front rows of the theater. As you face the stage, children from Pre-K "A" will be on the left side. Following the program, there will be a brief time for taking photos and then the Pre-K classes will return to their classrooms for a regular school day. See you tomorrow!
