Children can practice counting skills and one-to-one correspondence by putting the correct amount of stickers on the apple or leaf.

Emma and Amya put the apple numbers in the correct order.

The photos below show a hands-on addition activity children can choose to do during Free Choice time....

First, the child rolls the die...

 

and puts the corresponding number of scarecrows in a bowl...

and a sticker on his/her paper by the scarecrow.

 

The child rolls the die again...

 

and puts the corresponding amount of pumpkins in a second bowl...

and a number sticker by the pumpkin on the paper. 

The child then dumps the scarecrows and pumpkins into a 3rd bowl.  He/She counts the total number of objects in the 3rd bowl and puts the correct number in the last space.
