Today we used a hard-boiled egg to simulate the nursery rhyme, "Humpty Dumpty". First, the children gave their explanations as to why Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall (It was slippery; he lost his balance, etc.). Next, we put the egg on top of a "wall" and watched it have a great fall! We made 2 discoveries during this activity.......1. If you lie Humpty Dumpty (the egg) down on the wall, he won't fall. 2. If you peel off Humpty Dumpty's shell, he has a flat bottom and can then sit and balance on the wall.
